Neosporin Essentials Moisture Body Wash

Exederm Body Wash

CLn BodyWash

Cetaphil Restoraderm, Eczema Calming Body Wash

Aveeno Active Naturals Fragrance Free Skin Relief Body Wash

As with its other products, this Aveeno body wash for eczema uses colloidal oatmeal as one of its key active ingredient. Oats are said to be beneficial in terms of relieving dry skin, soothes extra dry, itchy and irritated skin. It's rich emollient content also helps to moisture the skin, leaving the skin feeling smooth and moisturized for long hours.

It has also been mentioned that this cleanser has been clinically proven to reduce blemishes. This Aveeno product is one that is recommended by dermatologists, and has also earned the NEA's Seal of Acceptance.

What We Liked

  • Hypoallergenic and scent-free
  • Works up a good lather

What We Didn't Like

  • Very smooth and silky finish after shower, which some people may not like as it feels oily / heavy

Aveeno products have generally been my go-to products for my eczema skin needs. This cleanser contains simple natural ingredients in the form of oats to help users achieve soothing relief and smooth skin after washing, just like the oatmeal body wash for eczema.

Based on the reviews, there was also one user who even used it as a shampoo for the lack of finding a good one and found that it worked great too! This cleanser certainly lives up to its label of being truly fragrance-free and being hypoallergenic and is what we regard as a good body wash for eczema.

Neosporin Essentials Moisture Body Wash

Neosporin Essentials Moisture Body Wash, Soap Free, Fragrance Free, 10 Ounce

This product from Neopsorin contains the RELIPID formula, which contains lipid, humectant, emollient and botanical blend. Each ingredient is important in its own right. Humectants attract and retain moisture, lipids then help to lock in the moisture.

The botanical contents then help to soothe the dry skin and the emollients help maintain the smooth and soft skin appearance.

This cleanser has also been given the NEA Seal of Acceptance and is gentle enough for the whole family.

What We Liked

  • Works well with the Neosporin Essential line of products
  • Suitable for use as facial wash

What We Didn't Like

  • Contains methylparabens and sodium laureate sulfate, may not be suitable for everyone

While this product from the Neosporin Essentials range which has been specially formulated for eczema skin did not disappoint with quite a number of positive reviews, it does contain two ingredients - methylparaben and sodium laureth sulfate, which are known to be unsuitable for some eczema sufferers.

Other than that, most users found that the product cleans well with significant improvement to their skin condition, and also used it together with the other products from the Neosporin Essentials line for good effect. Besides its slightly higher price point, this product is a winner for us and thus makes the list as one of the best body wash for eczema prone skin.

Exederm Body Wash

Exederm Body Wash

Given that this product received the NEA Seal of Acceptance, one would know that this product from Exederm is known to contain none of those known harsh ingredients.

These harsh ingredients that are absent are the fragrances, parabens, lanolin, formaldehyde and also unnecessary foaming or bubbling agents such as sodium lauryl sulphate.

The formulation makes it suitable for use on very sensitive skin associated with eczema and dermatitis, and is gentle enough for facial use.

What We Liked

  • Gentle enough to be used as a facial cleanser
  • No after shower dryness

What We Didn't Like

  • Lack of suds, will take some time to get used to

Exederm has a complete product line which has been specially formulated for sensitive skin battered by eczema and dermatitis, with cleansers, lotions, shampoos and conditioners completing the lineup.

Users have reviewed that they have have seen good results when this cleanser is used in conjunction with the other products, but it works great by itself too.

Other than some users pointing out that they preferred larger packaging as their frequent use would deplete their supplies pretty quickly, the cleanser does its job well with no frills.

This unique formulation from CLn provides the effectiveness of a bleach bath together with the smoothness of a gentle skin cleanser. This is achieved by including sodium hypochlorite, which also doubles up as a preservative. While it is not the same as a bleach bath, it can be considered as an alternative and is more convenient to use.

Being gentle and non-drying, it is suitable for sensitive skin types especially skins affected by eczema, acne, folliculitis and infection and can be used from head to toe.

What We Liked

  • Works not just for eczema but also improves other skin conditions
  • Nice clean feeling without the thick greasy finish

What We Didn't Like

  • Steep price which we cannot justify for frequent usage.

The CLn BodyWash has proved to be effective in various conditions of compromised skin, helping to improve the condition of the skin within days. The biggest drawback is the cost, which can really add up in the long term. It makes into our list of the best cleansers for ecFor someone who's looking for a product that is not mainstream but yet effective, this is the one for you.

This body wash from Cetaphil which has been formulated for eczema, works well and has been clinically proven to soothe itchy, dry skin. The light, airy foam created by this body wash makes it a joy to use as it cleans well and moisturizes as it cleans. The best part of it is that it rinses off easily and you can feel that your skin is smooth and soft right after.

What We Liked

  • Light, airy foam that cleans well without leaving your skin feeling dry or tight
  • Mild enough even for babies above 3 months old

What We Didn't Like

  • Relatively costly due to the small packaging.

The Cetaphil Restoraderm Eczema Calming Body Wash may be the last one on our list of the best body wash for eczema, but it is one of our favourites in terms of the usage experience.

We personally prefer the light foamy texture for our cleansers, which we can describe the experience as well-balanced and the skin didn't feel dry but yet wasn't greasy.

There have also been multiple reviews from users noticing that the blemished skin looked lighter. With the exception of the small packaging and costs, this is one of our favourites.

Cleansing 101

As per what we've shared in one of our earlier posts, it is important to cleanse your skin at least once everyday.

Water is essential to clean off any residual dirt, oil, irritants and allergens from your skin, as well as help in the first step of hydrating the outer layer of our skin and softening it at the same time.

The softening effect will set the skin at an optimal condition for the moisturizers to be easily absorbed into the skin later on.

Do keep in mind that you should use lukewarm water.

Knowing what body wash to use for eczema will be the next thing you have to be aware of. It is usually recommended that we use mild soaps or non-soaps to avoid or minimize any irritation associated with these products.

We have compiled our list of our top 5 best body wash for eczema skin below, and these products are generally gentle on the skin, hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin. These cleansers ideally should not contain any fragrances, dyes, parabens and soap.

Some cleansers may have a richer emollient content, so that will be helpful in moisturizing the skin during the cleansing and leave a smooth finish when you wash it off with water.

While it is important to keep yourselves clean by washing on a regular basis, you must remember not to overdo it as excessive washing can create the opposite effect of drying up the skin, especially without any moisturizing done to retain the hydration.

I would recommend taking 10-15 minutes baths or showers twice a day, and remember to moisturizer immediately after to maximize the beneficial effects of the bath for the hours ahead.
